The handicraft industry of India is a rich tapestry of tradition and history, with each state boasting its own unique crafts and techniques. The domestic and international trade of handicrafts plays a vital role in shaping the industry in India, with many crafts being passed down from generation to generation and serving as a source of livelihood for families.

To support and promote the preservation of this rich tradition and provide livelihood, Alekhya, our deputy Regional Director, organized a two-day training session on silk thread bangle making, specifically targeted at women from a self-help group. This is one of the pilot projects under the initiative “Training the Trainers,” aimed at providing training to individuals who can then pass on the knowledge and skills to others.
